Express Script acts as a middleman between pharmacies and and employers. After Walgreens and Express Script were unable to come to a new agreement, Walgreens is no longer a part of Express Script's pharmacy network.
Unfortunately, customers are now being forced to go elsewhere to use their in-network pharmacy benefits. Due to the actions of Express Scripts, customers are being disrupted. Disruption in something as important as health care is unfortunate. Not only is it unfortunate, it is unnecessary. Customers, who have gotten close to their pharmacists, are having to switch pharmacies, and drive to far locations with less convenient hours just to have their prescriptions filled.
Discontent with the new burdens being placed on its customers, Walgreens is taking steps to alleviate the disruption in customers' health care plans. Walgreens is offering a special discount on annual membership for the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. During the month of January, an individual can join the Club for the promotion price of $5, or $10 for a family membership.
With the Club, members can receive a savings on more than 8,000 brand name and all generic medication. In addition, over 400 generic medications are available with a three-month supply for under $1 a week. The membership also includes discounts on flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies.
The non promotion annual membership price is $20 for an individual and $35 for a family membership.
